About Pilsen
Pilsen is the fourth largest city in the Czech Republic. It is located in western Bohemia and it is an important industrial, commercial, cultural, and administrative center.
Pilsen is a city known mainly for its beer and industry. It is not surprising, as Pilsen provided the world with the famous golden lager, (Pilsner), after which beers of the same type around the world are named. Due to brewing rich tradition it is possible to attend The Pilsner Urquell Brewery tour or visit The Brewery Museum, but the city has a lot another attractions to offer to its visitors. The city with more than 700 years of history, which is reflected in magnificent buildings situated in the historical centre (such as the beautiful Gothic cathedral of St. Bartholomew, Renaissance City Hall, Baroque reconstruction of the Archdeacon’s house and Franciscan Monastery, and the recently re-opened Great Synagogue of Pilsen), has changed beyond recognition over recent few years. Pilsen will surprise visitors with its plentiful parks, gardens and green space. Within the city there are several nature trails and protected areas, while the pride of Pilsen is a unique park ring in the city centre. If you come to Pilsen these days, you will not see a grey and tired city, but a modern gleaming metropolis that has a lot attractions to offer to its visitors. Not coincidentally this city won the title European Capital of Culture for the year 2015.
